Baptism

First Communion

First Communion

Baptism is the first sacrament celebrated in the process of becoming a full member of the Catholic Church. Parents wishing to have their child baptized in the Catholic Church are expected to make arrangements through their local Catholic parish. Parishioners registered at the Cathedral or residing within Cathedral parish boundaries are kindly requested to inform the Liturgy office accordingly.

First Communion

First Communion

First Communion

First Holy Communion is a religious ceremony when a child reaches the age of around 7-8 years and celebrates the first time that they accept the body and blood of Jesus (also known as the Eucharist). This is a 2-year preparation program. You can enroll children as early as Kindergarten.

Confirmation

First Communion

Confirmation

The sacrament of confirmation completes the sacrament of baptism. If baptism is the sacrament of re-birth to a new and supernatural life, confirmation is the sacrament of maturity and coming of age. Confirmation is a 1-year program. You can enroll children who are 11 years old or who are in the 5th grade and above.

Confession

Anointing of the Sick

Confirmation

Catholics Come Home' explains "The Sacrament of Reconciliation is one of the most unique and beautiful aspects of Catholicism. Jesus Christ, in His abundant love and mercy, established the Sacrament of Confession, so that we as sinners can obtain forgiveness for our sins and reconcile with God and the Church. The sacrament “washes us clean,” and renews us in Christ."

Anointing of the Sick

Anointing of the Sick

Anointing of the Sick

The anointing of the sick is administered to bring spiritual and even physical strength during an illness, especially near the time of death. In more basic terms, it is a rite that is performed to convey God’s grace to the recipient, through the power of the Holy Spirit.

For special circumstances or individuals seeking this sacrament, please contact the rectory office at  907-248-2000

Marriage

Anointing of the Sick

Anointing of the Sick

In choosing to come to the Catholic Church for the celebration of your wedding, you have made a choice to begin and to live your marriage in a Christian manner; to see your wedding as more than just a wonderful social event, but as something which draws its deeper meaning from our Christian faith.

If you would like to celebrate the Sacrament of Matrimony at the Cathedral. Please contact the parish office at least six months before your desired wedding date to arrange a meeting with Wedding Coordinator.  You will complete initial paperwork and receive a marriage preparation checklist. Appointments to meet with a priest and deacon are then scheduled.

Priestly Order

Priestly Order

This “is the sacrament through which the mission entrusted by Christ to his apostles continues to be exercised in the Church until the end of time: thus it is the sacrament of apostolic ministry. It includes three degrees”—the orders of bishop, priest, and deacon. (Catechism, 1536). For more information call Fr. Toshio Sato 501-420-4405
