Sacraments

Baptism

In the Catholic Church, infants are baptized to welcome them into the Catholic faith and to free them from the original sin. If you are seeking  baptism or have questions about baptism, please contact the pastor, Fr. Henry Grodecki, C.M. at (417) 389-7710 or email: [email protected].

First Communion

First Holy Communion is a religious ceremony when a child reaches the age of around 7-8 years and celebrates the first time that they accept the body and blood of Jesus (also known as the Eucharist). This is  2 year process where kids must attend faith formation classes.

Reconciliation

The Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation is one of the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church, in which the faithful obtain absolution for the sins committed against God and neighbour and are reconciled with the community of the Church.

Confirmation

The sacrament of confirmation completes the sacrament of baptism. If baptism is the sacrament of re-birth to a new and supernatural life, confirmation is the sacrament of maturity and coming of age.

Marriage

When the Catholic Church teaches that marriage between two baptized persons is a sacrament, it is saying that the couple’s relationship expresses in a unique way the unbreakable bond of love between Christ and his people

Holy Orders

this “is the sacrament through which the mission entrusted by Christ to his apostles continues to be exercised in the Church until the end of time: thus it is the sacrament of apostolic ministry. It includes three degrees”—the orders of bishop, priest, and deacon. (Catechism, 1536)

Anointing of the Sick

When the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick is given, the hoped-for effect is that, if it be God's will, the person be physically healed of illness. But even if there is no physical healing, the primary effect of the Sacrament is a spiritual healing by which the sick person receives the Holy Spirit's gift of peace and courage to deal with the difficulties that accompany serious illness or the frailty of old age.
